Eddie Condon's was the name of three successive jazz venues in New York run by jazz banjoist, guitarist, and bandleader Eddie Condon from until the mids. In , Red Balaban took over the management of the club. Ed Polcer was also a part-owner at the time of the club's closing.

Eddie Condon's groups were always a fun-loving, free-swinging journey into Chicago/New York style dixieland. He always fronted the best possible players; Ed Hall, Cutty Cutshall, "wild Bill" Davidson, Billy Butterfield, Peanuts Hucko, Bud Freeman and when you listen to them you knew they were having fun/5(13).

Saxophonist Bud Freeman () was the fundamentally friendly swing tenor from Chicago. A cardinal member of the Eddie Condon mob, he came to personify good times and toe-tappin' entertainment. Freeman was a sensitive balladeer with a soft, warm, butter-smooth tone. He could also cut loose and swing like a madman; both extremes were prerequisites, more or less, for inclusion in Condon.

Eddie Condon, Billie Holiday, Fats Waller, Lester Young, Lee Wiley, Benny Goodman, Teddy Wilson, by Bud Freeman Trio and Chu Berry & His Jazz Ensemble. With the LP and EP albums virtually non-existent, these samples are fabulous to tell the Commodore story. I only wish more of the individual artists were on CDs. Read more/5(3).
