Smoking Kills - a killer This is one of very few albumes where I liked all of the songs from the beggining. The songs are original, although the inspiration source aint that hard to reveal. All of these guys have years of experience even though this is The Disciplines debut.

THE DiSCiPLiNES shoot from the hip and aim for the head. SMOKiNG KiLLS is snarly, but catchy; direct, but not dumb; winky but not snarky. The songs race by in brutal efficiency, and within the garage-y production you might miss the delicate smattering of wordplay tucked in amongst the singalong chourses.

Smoking Kills contains some of the most visceral power pop you're likely to hear this year or any for that matter. Disciplines front man Ken Stringfellow has a curriculum vitae comparable to the best in the catchy power pop academy and here he adds to that estimable pedigree with some of his sharpest song-writing and clever lyrics to date.

In , Stringfellow formed the Disciplines with members of the Norwegian band, Briskeby and he was the lead singer. Their music is a raw, melodic, powerful garage rock that sounds fantastic live. I fluked into purchasing their first album, Smoking Kills while record shopping in Philadelphia in and I was instantly blown away.
